Asus Tek is planning to release its next tablet Eee Pad Slider in the coming months, probably in October, an Asus India spokesperson informed The Mobile Indian. The device has already been formally launched in the UK. Besides that, Asus will also bring Transformer WiFi+3G models to India.
The new Asus Eee Pad Slide SL101 sports a 10.1 inch touchscreen display with LED backlight and 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. The display has been made with scratch resistant glass and supports multitouch for up to ten fingers. Under the 17.3 mm thin form rests an Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC processor and 1 GB RAM on board. The Slider tablet comes with Android 3.1 Honeycomb preloaded along with Asus’s own touchscreen interface.
The tablet will be introduced with 16 GB and 32 GB on-board memory along with unlimited Asus Web Storage support. On the back panel is a 5 Megapixel camera which is capable of recording and playing full 1080p HD videos. It also comes with a front facing 1.2 megapixel camera usable for video chat.
Several applications like the Zinio Reader, Press Reader and others come preloaded on the tablet. It sports micro HDMI, USB and microSD slot ports. Asus Eee Pad Slider will come with a keyboard dock to use the tablet more effectively and to also conserve battery life.
In terms of specifications, the Slider tablet certainly looks promising but pricing details are not available; nor is there any information on whether Asus will tie-up with a 3G network or not.
