Asus yesterday night announced the launch of its new Zenfone 5 series. The Taiwanese company, at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona (Spain), also revealed three smartphones under the new series that includes the Zenfone 5Z, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5 Lite.
The company also unveiled Zenfone Max (M1) and Max Plus (M1) at the event.
“We embarked on the ZenFone project four years ago with the idea to create empowering luxury for everyone to enjoy,” said Mr. Shen. “Today, the ZenFone 5 Series is the most intelligent ZenFone series ever, utilizing advanced AI algorithms and big-data analytics to provide users with a unique slate of intelligent camera, communication and convenience features.”
The Zenfone 5 series phones have 19:9 displays and ZenMoji – something like Apple’s Animoji. But that’s not the significant resemblance. What’s significant is their design – they look very similar to the iPhone X.

This is the flagship smartphone in the series. It has Snapdragon 845 processor. The phone will be made available in 4 GB RAM, 6 GB RAM and 8 GB RAM models with 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB storage respectively. The phone also comes with a micro SD card slot. This dual SIM phone too has Android Oreo OS like the Zenfone 5Z and it will come in 4 GB and 6 GB RAM variants, offering 64 GB of internal storage. Apart from that it has the same features as the Zenfone 5Z.
ZenFone 5 Lite
ZenFone 5 Lite is a 6-inch smartphone featuring four-camera system with high-resolution and wide-angle cameras at both front and rear. ZenFone 5 Lite has a 20MP Sony at the front, 16MP at the rear — and, a secondary 120° wide-angle camera at both front and rear. According to the company, each camera works independently every time for perfect selfies, wefies, landscapes, portraits or groups shots. The 6-inch Full HD+ IPS display has a Full View 18:9 aspect ratio and an ultraslim bezel, which makes it as compact as a standard-aspect-ratio 5.5-inch phone, said Asus.
Powered by the Snapdragon 630 Mobile Platform, ZenFone 5 Lite comes equipped with a 3300mAh battery and offers features like NFC, triple-slot SIM/microSD card holder, rapid face unlock and fingerprint recognition.
