A day after Apple launched a new version of its third generation tablet, it has reduced the price of its best selling iPad 2 by a whopping Rs 5,000.
The 16 GB model of Apple iPad 2 which works on WiFi only is now available in India for Rs 24,500 while the WiFi+3G version of the tablet is now selling for Rs 32,900.
“The iPad 2 is now offered at a more affordable price of Rs 24,500, inclusive of VAT for the 16GB Wi-Fi model and just Rs 32,900, inclusive of VAT for the 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G model,” Apple India said in a press release.
Apple on Thursday announced its brand new 4G ready version of its iPad tablet. Though the new tablet will start selling in the USA market from 16th of this month for $499-$899 (Rs 25,050-Rs 45,130), there is no information whether when the same will be release in India.
The new iPad comes with Apple’s new A5X chip with quad-core graphics and a 5 Megapixel iSight camera with advanced optics for capturing amazing photos and 1080p HD video. The iPad with Wi-Fi + 4G will definitely give faster network connectivity at blazing speed.
“The new iPad now has the highest Resolution display ever seen on a mobile device with 3.1 million pixels, delivering razor sharp text and unbelievable detail in photos and videos,” the iPhone maker said in a press release. The tablet will also have new iOS 5.1 operating system.
By slashing the price of the older iPad 2, the company is hoping to give a fillip to the sell of its older iPad. Since there is no information now as when the new iPad will come to India, people may also take advantage of the price reduction.
The iPad 2 is one of the best selling tablets in the world. As the new tablet, it has also a 9.7 inch LED-backlit display features IPS screen. However, the new iPad’s Retina Display delivers four times the number of pixels of iPad 2. The iPad 2 comes with iOS4 operating system which is though upgradable to iOS 5.1 which has been introduced with the 4G iPad. The new tablet also has powerful new A5X chip with quad-core graphics against iPad2’s A5 dual core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 processor.
