Months after launching the MacBook Air with Retina display and MacBook Pro with octa-core Intel processors, Apple has refreshed its MacBook lineup with the launch of the MacBook Air 2019 and an entry-level MacBook Pro 13-inch which are available for starting prices of Rs 99,900 and Rs 119,900 respectively in India.
The new line comes as part of Apple’s “Back to School” initiative which offers discounts for college students and other deals. Students will be able to buy the MacBook Air 2019 and the new MacBook Pro 13-inch for reduced starting prices of Rs 92,704 and Rs 111,264 respectively. Users will also get a pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones with the purchase of any eligible Apple product.
The new MacBook Air 2019 comes with a 13.3-inch LED-backlit IPS Retina display that has now been enabled with a True Tone feature which automatically adjusts the colour temperature of the display. The notebook is powered by an 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor, Intel UHD Graphics 617 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of SSD storage. It comes with a Touch ID sensor and a 13-hour battery.
As for the entry-level MacBook Pro 13-inch, the new notebook is now enabled with Touch Bar, Touch ID as well as True Tone for the Retina display. There’s the Apple T2 Security chip on the inside which now accompanies the 8th gen Intel processors and two Thunderbolt 3 ports on the MacBook Pro. The entry-level MacBook Pro sticks with the Butterfly keyboard design and offers up to 10 hours of battery.
Besides this, Apple has discontinued its older non-retina MacBook Air as well as the 12-inch MacBook in India. What this essentially means is that the MacBook Air 2019 is the cheapest MacBook available in India for a starting price of Rs 99,900 while the cheapest MacBook Pro is available for Rs 119,900. Both laptops will be available for purchase starting from July 25 through Apple Authorised Resellers in India.
