Apple has finally updated its iPad lineup launching a new 9.7-inch iPad today via its own Apple Store. The new iPad is priced at Rs 28,900 for the 32GB Wi-Fi variant and Rs 39,900 for 32GB WiFi and Cellular variant. Further, the new iPad is available in Silver, Gold and Space Gray colour options. All the variants will be available in India from 24th March on both Apple Store and Apple authorised sellers.
The new 9.7-inch iPad replaces the iPad Air 2 with the new 64-bit A9 chip inside. Apart from this, most of the specifications of the new iPad are similar to that of iPad Air 2.Quickly briefing about the specs, the new iPad, as the name suggests, sports a 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS Retina Display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels making up for a Pixel density of 264 ppi. On top of this, apple has provided a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. As mentioned before, the new iPad comes with Apple’s 640bit A9 chip which was first seen on Apple’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. For the optics, we get an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture, autofocus, HDR, panorama and various other controls such as burst mode, exposure control, tap to focus etc. This camera can record 1080p video at 30fps and also a slow-mo video at 120 fps. Turning the device around, we get a 1.2-megapixel f/2.2 Aperture selfie camera which can record videos up to 720p resolution. For connectivity, both the Wi-Fi and LTE variants supportWi‑Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 4.2. On the other hand, the WiFi + LTE variant supports all the major LTE bands, Data calling and Apple SIM (Nano SIM). For the dimensions, 9.4 x 6.6 x 0.29 mm and weighs 469g for Wi-Fi model and 478 g for Wi-Fi and LTE model.
As always, we don’t have any specific information about the battery capacity though the company claims that it can last up to 10 hours on single charge cycle. Besides, the new iPad 9.7-inch runs on the latest iOS 10 and also comes with Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
