Opposed to recent reports of further delay in launch, it seems like Apple is finally on track for the launch of its famous Airpods. The wireless earphones are now up for pre-orders on the company’s US online store and the first shipment is expected to take place on December 21. This is on par with Tim Cook’s recent response to a customer query about the availability. Moreover, on the same day, the earphones will be available via offline channels (Apple’s retailers) as well. However, this availability is strictly limited to the US market and we have no information about the availability of the wireless earphones in India as of now. Apple Airpods will sell in the US for $159 (approx. Rs 15,400).
Initially, the Airpods were unveiled along with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus back in September and though Apple claimed that the Airpods will be up for grabs sometime in late-October, it eventually failed to launch the earphones then. Not only this, Apple later went on ahead and said that the launch was delayed for indefinite period of time which is when people started speculating the possible reasons for the delay. Some reports claimed that the wireless earphones will not up for sale before January 2017 and adding to this, a recent report claimed that Apple is facing some audio-syncing issue with its wireless Airpods.
Nevertheless, the company boasted a lot about the wireless earphones at the launch and believed that their decision to move to wireless technology is a step to the future.
Apple claims that the wireless Airpods contain three unique W1 chips for high quality media playback with reliable connection. These earphones have infrared sensors which detect when the Airpods are fitted in your ear and plays content accordingly. Moreover, these also come equipped with motion accelerometers which can detect your tap. This tap feature enables users to access Siri with a double tap and also ask questions, thanks to the voice Accelerometer present there as well. Each Airpod can last for about 5 hours and is to be charged by placing it in its tiny charging case which can provide a battery backup of about 24 hours.
With the Airpods already up for pre-order in the US, we can expect Apple to ship the earphones in India soon given that India is one of the most important markets for the US based technology company.
