Micromax along with Google has formally announced the new Canvas A1 dual-SIM smartphone as part of the Android One program. Under this program, the Canvas A1 along with other Android One family of devices will get the pure Android experience without any customisations. Micromax Canvas A1 offers dual-SIM support, 4.5-inch display, quad-core MediaTek mobile Chipset and will be available from Amazon India website for Rs 6399 .
The new Micromax Canvas A1 is one of the first Android One phones to be available in India. Spice and Karbonn too will be launching their own Android One phones today. Google has also promised that the Android One devices will be eligible for the Android Lemon Meringue Pie update. The objective of the Android One Project is to deliver pure Android experience on the affordable devices. So Google has tied up with several mobile chipset makers and handset makers to make this possible.
Micromax Canvas A1 bears a 4.5-inch touchscreen display with 480×854 pixel resolution. Powered by a quad-core unspecified MediaTek mobile chipset, the Canvas A1 packs 1 GB RAM to run the system as well as apps smoothly. By default, the Canvas A1 runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Canvas A1 offers 4 GB on-board storage and memory card slot to add microSD card. At the back it offers a 5 megapixel camera and an LED flash for imaging. In the front, it has a 2 megapixel camera for holding video calls and video chats.
The Canvas A1 will have a Dual-SIM support and can accommodate at least one 3G network enabled SIM card. Other features include WiFi support, FM Radio, and more. Micromax has added 1700 mAh battery with is removable.
Micromax Canvas A1 is priced at Rs 6399 and will be available from Amazon India website. Micromax will make the Canvas A1 available in physical stores by Diwali festive season.
