Google released Android 7.0 Nougat back in August and claimed that most of the recent Nexus devices will taste Android Nougat. However, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE tablet were left out in the initial phase of roll out. Google though apologised for it and came up with a statement that the update will reach Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE tablet in coming weeks. While, Nexus 6 started receiving the OTA earlier this week, Google seems to have begin the roll out for Nexus 9 as well. As of now the update has only been rolled out for Nexus 9 LTE variant.
The update build number is NRD90R and also includes September security patch, though factory images are still not up on Google’s website.
Nexus 9 comes with 8.9 inch 1536 x 2048 IPS LCD display. Underneath the hood, it sports Nvidea Tegra K1 Dual core processor with Kepler DX1 GPU. It has 2GB RAM and comes with either 16GB (Wi-Fi) or 32GB (LTE) internal storage with no memory expansion. In the camera department, it has an 8 megapixel primary camera and 1.6 MP front facing camera. To power the device, there is a 6700 mAh battery with Micro USB 2.0 for charging and data transfer.
Earlier this week, Google eventually killed the name Nexus for Pixel and launched two new smartphones – Pixel and Pixel XL. Both the phones have best of specifications with the latest Android but also comes with premium price. Google Pixel will start at Rs 57,000 for 32GB Model in India. Also, as of now, there has been no report if other products like Google Home, Daydream VR headset, Google WiFi, Chromecast Ultra will ever make it to India.
