Amazon has announced the launch of its best e-book reader, the Kindle Voyage in India. The WiFi-only version is priced at Rs 16,499 while the 3G variant, called Kindle Voyage 3G, carries a price tag of Rs 20,499. With these new launches, Amazon is now offering five Kindle e-readers – Kindle (Rs 4,999), All New Kindle (Rs 5,999), Kindle Paperwhite (Rs 10,999) and Kindle Paperwhite 3G (Rs 13,999).
The Kindle Voyage measures 162 mm x 115 mm x 7.6 mm and has a 6 inch display with 300 ppi Pixel density. It is made of Carta e-paper technology and has adaptive front light that adjusts automatically and offers 16-level gray scale.
“Kindle Voyage can be read in bright sunlight or total darkness-and it’s smart enough to know the difference. With a new adaptive front light, Kindle Voyage senses the light in your environment, and changes the setting to the ideal brightness,” claims Amazon.
Amazon claims to have armed it with several unique features to make it a much better e-reader in the market. To start with the Kindle Voyage has a pressure-based page turner sensor, PagePress – a custom-designed force sensor made of carbon and silver, which reacts to a subtle increase of pressure, triggers a page-turn, and provides a haptic response only your thumb can perceive.
It has 4 GB of inbuilt storage and Amazon offers free Cloud Storage for all its content. Though Amazon has not revealed its battery capacity, it claims that the device lasts up to six weeks on a single recharge if you use it for half an hour reading while keeping WiFi off and brightness at level 10.
