Amazon is reportedly working to introduce at least 8 new Alexa-powered smart devices. The company is reported to reveal some of the devices at an event, which might take place later this month.
As per a report by CNBC, Amazon is planning to introduce smart devices including a microwave oven, an amplifier, a receiver, a subwoofer and in-car gadgets. All the above-mentioned devices will be Alexa-enabled, which means that it can be connected to the voice assistant easily. The report further highlights that some of the devices will also have built-in Alexa.
The move is in line with the company’s ambition to mark its debut in the smart home appliance segment. With this, Amazon will target for a connected home experience that can be easily controlled by Alexa voice assistant. Interestingly, many home appliances from Sonos and GE already support Alexa. It would be interesting to see whether the move will be a success or it will be a failed experiment.
Meanwhile, Amazon has announced its new payment service, the Amazon Pay EMI. the new feature offers card-less EMIs and instant financing option for Amazon customers who don’t have a credit card. The company is offering up to Rs 60,000 limit with the new services. Users will have to pay the EMI options directly from the debit card. For this, the company has partnered with different banks including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Canara Bank, Citi Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank.
