Amazon has unveiled the Echo Show 5 Smart Display as a smaller sibling to the original Echo Show with almost all of its functionalities. The Amazon Echo Show 5 will come with a touchscreen, HD camera, a speaker and Alexa support for a price of Rs 8,999 in India.
The Echo Show 5 as the name suggests features a 5.5-inch touchscreen with a Resolution of 960 x 480 pixels that is housed inside a 148 x 86 x 73mm sized shell. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT 8163 Processor with Dual-Band Wi-Fi support and Bluetooth.
The Echo device comes with a full-range 1.65-inch built-in speaker and a 3.5 mm stereo audio output for additional speaker connectivity. The device features a 1MP HD camera that will allow users to make 720p video calls. Amazon is offering users extra privacy by providing a built-in shutter and a switch to disable the microphone of Show 5.
Users can make video calls to smartphones with the inbuilt Alexa App or through Skype. There’s a drop-in mode when parents can check up on their kids by connecting the Show device to another unit. Amazon is also offering entertainment through the Amazon Prime Music, Amazon Prime Video, Hungama Music, Saavn, Gaana, and TuneIn apps built right onto the smart display.
The Echo Show 5 is also compatible with other smart devices in your home and can be used to control smart lights, view security cameras and create routines by simple Alexa commands. Alexa skills can also be accessed to help personalise the device for a user’s own needs.

The Amazon Echo Show 5 will be available in Black and White colours for an asking price of Rs 8,999 in India through Amazon India from July 18.
