Amazon Echo, Echo Dot smart speakers receive price cuts in India

the Amazon Echo Dot will be available for Rs 4,099 against its original price of Rs 4,999. This reflects a price cut of Rs 900. Similarly, the Amazon Echo will now retail for Rs 8,999 against the original price of Rs 9,999. The Echo Plus and Echo Spot are retailing at its original price of Rs 14,999 and Rs 12,999.

Amazon has slashed the prices of its latest Alexa-powered smart speakers, the Echo and Echo Dot. The price cut is meant to challenge Google’s smartphone speakers, Home and Home Mini.

After the price cut, the Amazon Echo Dot will be available for Rs 4,099 against its original price of Rs 4,999. This reflects a price cut of Rs 900. Similarly, the Amazon Echo will now retail for Rs 8,999 against the original price of Rs 9,999. However, the Echo Plus and Echo Spot are retailing at its original price of Rs 14,999 and Rs 12,999. With the latest price cut, both the smart speakers from Amazon will give a stiff competition to the Google Home and Home Mini speakers. The former comes with a price tag of Rs 9,999, while the latter is priced at Rs 4,099.

To recall, the smart speakers werelaunched in India last year.Amazon Echo features a cylindrical shape and comes equipped with a 2.5-inch downward-firing woofer. The speaker comes with Dolby Digital and there is a new microphone technology that allows to be picked from a distance quite accurately. The speaker comes loaded with Alexa and it can be used to trigger multiple actions.

Coming to the Echo Dot speaker, it is a hands-free, voice controlled device that is powered by Alexa and uses the same far-field voice recognition as Echo. Echo Dot has a compact design and comes in either black or white colour options. With the built-in speaker, users can talk with Alexa and listen to music, or Echo Dot can directly connect to speakers through Bluetooth or by using a 3.5mm stereo cable, enabling you to add Alexa to any home entertainment system.
