Days after debuting the Verge Lite smartwatch with 20-day battery, Huami has announcedthe Amazfit Verge 2 wearable in China with a Qualcomm chipset, e-SIM capabilities and an electrocardiograph monitor. The Verge 2 smartwatch will be available for a starting price of 999 yuan (approx. Rs 10,000). The company has also launched the Amazfit Health Watch for 699 yuan (approx. Rs 7,000).
Amazfit Verge 2
The Verge 2 features a 1.39-inch AMOLED Display with a resolution of 454×454 pixels and a pixel density of 326 PPI. It’s protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and a Microcrystalline zirconium ceramic body with skinned texture for high hardness. Huami says the ceramic body has been designed after 35 days of precision processing which involves a total of 24 complex processes.
As for the internals, the successor to the original Amazfit Verge comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 processor with a clockspeed of 1.1GHz, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of eMMC storage. The Verge 2 comes running AMAZFIT OS which can be connected to a smartphone running Android 4.4 or iOS10.0 or higher. The watch comes with four watch faces – simple, dashboard, caterpillar and classic.
The Verge 2 is the first watch to feature 4G VoLTE connectivity which is enabled through a built-in eSIM module and can thus be used to make calls independent of the phone it’s connected to. There’s a 420mAH battery inside the smartwatch which offers 28 hours of back up on 4G.
Amazfit’s new watch comes with GPS, GLONASS, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi for connectivity. The watch features sports, sleep and activity tracking with up to 10 modes based on the activity. There’s an optional ECG version which offers a real-time screening of PPG & ECG arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation like Apple’s Watch Series 4.
Huami has also introduced the Verge 2 Avengers Limited Edition with a custom theme and band. Amazfit Verge 2 can be purchased in Silicone straps for standard and Silicone + leather strap for the ECG version.
The Amazfit Verge 2 will be available for a starting price of 999 yuan (approx. Rs 10,000) while the Verge 2 with ECG costs 1299 yuan (approx. Rs 13,000). The Avengers Limited Edition will be available for 1499 yuan (approx. Rs 15,000).
Amazfit Health Watch
Huami has also launched the Amazfit Health Watch with Low-power BioTracker PPG sensor for tracking PPG arrhythmia continuously as well as an ECG sensor to measure an electrocardiograph in 60 seconds. The Health Watch comes with a 1.28-inch colour display with 176 x 176 pixels screen resolution which is housed inside a four-sided PVD crafted metal bezels.
The Amazfit Health is powered by the Huangshan No 1 processor which is the world’s first wearable processor with AI neural network. It comes with four AI engines – cardiac biometric engine, ECG, ECG Pro and abnormal heart rhythm monitoring. The watch comes with narrowband network technology for reporting emergency health events in real time.
The watch features a 200mAh battery that can last to up to 7 days and is protected with water resistance for up to 30 metres. Additionally, the Health Watch can connect to phones via Bluetooth 5.0 LE and uses a 6-axis low-power IMU sensor.
The Amazfit Health Watch will be available for a price of 699 yuan (approx. Rs 7,000).
