All you need to know about Prisma – the Instagram rival

Many are touting this artistic photo editing app as a threat to Instagram. Here is what else you should know about it.

So you are a selfie addict and can’t get enough of Instagram. Well, there is another for you called Prisma. This new app is being touted as the next Instagram. So let’s dig a bit deep and check what the hullabaloo is all about.

Usability: Prisma is an interesting photo editing app, which can turn any photo into an artwork instantly. Most of the images edited by Prisma look like vintage paintings of the Picaso arena-all thanks to its built-in filters.

Interface and ease of use: It has a clutter-free interface similar to that of Instagram. You can simply apply its artistic filters, which replicate the works of famous artists: Munk, Picasso as well as world famous ornaments and patterns, in few simple clicks.

How it works: To edit any image on this app requires just three steps: take a pic, apply a filter, save and then share with the world. One must note, when you apply a filter, the app applies a unique combination of neural networks and artificial intelligence to convert your pic into a timeless art.

Availability: Currently, this free app is available only on the platform but its version would hit by end of July 2016. The company has also announced Prisma video, which would let you apply such artistic effects to videos too.

Alternatives: Prisma certainly is different from most of the photo editing apps out there, but you can certainly get some similar (and at times, better) results with Pikazo. It also offers artistic filters like Prisma and is available on both Android and iOS platforms.

VSCO is another photo editing app that could be an alternative to the Prisma. It offers more choices when it comes to photo editing and has been iPhone and Android phone users’ favorite for quite some time now.
