All about new iOS 10

Apple is all set to release the iOS 10 on September 13. Users will able to download the update via OTA roll out or flash via ITunes.

Apple announced its new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus yesterday and as expected the company also unveiled the next version of 10.0.1 (Gold Master) final built. Though the final built is quite identical to the last beta (beta 8) version, the GM update brings all important bug fixes and few new additional features. Let’s summarise the top features of iOS 10.
iOS 10
Raise to Wake

Apple has finally done away with the outdated ‘Slide to Unlock’ which have been there since iPhone’s inception. Picking up the device will automatically light up the lock-screen and in order to unlock the device one needs to just press the home button. Pressing the home button will either unlock the device through Touch ID or any passcode if you have been using one.

Notification Centre

Well this feature has been in since Lollipop and has finally made way to the iOS. Notifications on lock-screen will be detailed and uncluttered in the iOS 10. Not only this, the notifications on the iOS 10 will also be able to use Apple’s 3D touch functionality. In the other words, users will be able to access detailed notifications through 3D touch. Moreover, users will also be able to reply to their messages from notification centre as well without even opening the app.

Clear All Notifications button

This was one of the most important feature of the beta version and that’s why it has made to the final list as well. The all-important ‘clear all’ notifications button makes way in the iOS 10. Swiping each individually has always been a mess and time consuming and often users would not clear the notifications at all. Just swipe down the notification panel and hard press the ‘X’ button which reveals the clear all notifications option. Also notifications both on lockscreen as well as in the notifications centre will be uncluttered and clean.

Improved Siri

Siri recently seemed to have lost its user base due to stiff competition from Google Now. But with iOS 10, Apple has been promising that Siri will be revamped for better results and more functionality. In iOS 10, users will now be able to write text messages, image searches, download apps etc. Moreover, soon various third-party apps will be implemented to Siri as well thereafter users can book an Uber or order from Dominos. Another thing which was not there on the beta version, is that now Siri can also speak out names of the incoming calls if its saved in your contacts.

Home-Kit app

The developer focused app from Apple will finally be able for end-users in iOS 10. Home-Kit app basically connects with your home-based (Internet of Things) gadgets and brings them all in this app through which you can control each gadget with super ease. Also, this app can also be interacted via Siri which makes it even easier to access.

The media control centre will see a revamp in design uncluttering various controls in the menu. Camera and Widgets on lock-screen is another addition to the new OS which will come really handy in certain situations.

Further, apple will also integrate Siri in iOS keyboard and will also bunch of unique emojis. Further, the app will see further new animations and features like invisible ink.

Users can now share notes and other highlighted content to anyone with just a tap. Also 3D touch introduced last year is now available for all the Apple apps. Maps have also witnessed improvement updates from the last beta version of iOS 10.
