GSM telecom operators in India added 17.16 million new subscribers in November, taking the all-India GSM cellular subscriber base to 525.88 million, as per the report released by COAI. The GSM subscriber base stood at 508.72 million at the end of October, 2010.
Bharti Airtel and Vodafone garnered 3.10 million and 3.12 million new users in November, taking their total subscriber base to 149.39 million and 121.16 million respectively.
While Bharti enjoyed a market share of 28.41 per cent at the end of November, 2010, rival Vodafone’s market share stood at 23.04 per cent.
The two operators were followed by BSNL with 3.01 million new user additions taking its market share to 14.87per cent . The other government owned telecom operator, MTNL, registered a little over 37 thousand new users.
Aditya Birla group firm Idea Cellular added 2.80 million users during the month to take its total user base to 78.82 million, while Uninor and Aircel added 2.44 million and 1.21 million customers to take its subscriber base to 16.19 million and 48.73 million.
Airtel, Vodafone add 3 mn subscribers in November
The government owned telecom operator BSNL also added 3 mn subscribers followed by Idea with 2.8 mn subscriber addition. Overall, India added 17 mn GSM users in the month of November.
