Bharti airtel has launched its 3G service in the North Karnataka towns of Hubballi, Dharwad and Belagavi. Earlier, Airtel had launched 3G services in Bengaluru, Mysore, Mangalore, Udupi, Manipal, Shimoga, Davanagere and Tumkur areas of the state.
The North Karnataka region has over 30 per cent of Airtel’s customer base having GPRS connectivity. Besides, the region has the second largest number of 3G enabled handsets in Karnataka after the city of Bangalore.
“With nearly 50 per cent of retailers in North Karnataka selling airtel GPRS packs, this is a very apt region for the availability of 3G services,” the teleco said in a press release.
With 3G, customers can now enjoy high-speed mobile Broadband and internet access with the ability to view videos on their mobile phone, make video calls, watch live TV, access high speed internet and enjoy live streaming at higher speeds.
Speaking at the launch, Venkatesh V, chief executive officer, Karnataka circle, mobile services, Bharti airtel, said, “The launch of mobile number portability services is an added bonus for all those seeking 3G services for video calls and enjoy the advantage to the power of mobile internet”
Airtel has also announced some affordable plans. Under the ‘Pay as you go’ plan, customer will pay the same prevailing data rates as on 2G service, but with the advantage of a faster mobile broadband.
Under the Sachet Plans, users can get 10 MB free data with a validity of one day for just Rs 9. Under the same plan, they can have 30 minutes of free data for just Rs 45 with a day’s validity.
For Rs 60, users can avail 65 MB of free data for a validity of three days under the Sachet plan.
There is also a Standard plan for the mid to high-end users of data and will have a validity of 30 days.
Under the FlexiShield Plan for Rs 675, users can get 1.25 GB of free data with a validity of 30 days.
