Aircel has re-launched Apple iPhone 3GS (8 GB only) and this time it is priced attractively at about Rs 20,000. To make the offer more attractive, the operator is also offering the phone at a zero per cent EMI scheme with down payment of Rs 3,333.
Similar to the tariff plans for iPhone 4, Aircel is offering up to 100 per cent cash back through discounted tariff plans.
There is a discount of Rs 830 with the Rs 1,429 plan. So users only need to pay Rs 599, for which they get 1,750 minutes of local calls and 1,000 local and national SMSes free. They will also get 500 MB of 3G data free every month. This plan gives total savings of Rs 19, 920 per year.
The other plan is worth Rs 719, for which users will have to pay Rs 299 and will get 1,000 minutes local calls, 500 local and national free SMSes, along with 350 MB of 3G data (1 GB for the first 3 months). This plan helps you save Rs 10,080 per year.
1 GB of data usage is free during the first three months with either plan.
iPhone 3GS can be upgraded to the latest iOS 4.3 operating system and another good thing is that the SIM is not locked, so you can switch networks if you wish to. Although the iPhone 3GS is powered by a 600 MHz processor, this Processor is reportedly under-clocked by Apple for reliable performance and can easily be over clocked to perform as a 1 GHz processor.
The 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen is still one of the best and more so when it is combined with the highly acclaimed iOS operating system.
The iPhone 3GS comes with wireless connectivity features such as 3G, WiFi, GPS with A-GPS, Edge/GPRS and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP.
Now available only in an 8 GB version, iPhone 3GS supports 256 MB of RAM and includes a 3.15 Megapixel camera with autofocus.
iPhone 3GS doesn’t have a front facing camera and certainly cannot dole out 720p HD video even with official Apple hardware. So that makes Google Nexus S a winner in these two areas, and also with regard to its superior graphics chip.
For users who cannot afford the latest iPhone 4 (in fact it’s better to wait for iPhone 5,) this is the best option.
