Acer today revealed a range of computers at the ongoing IFA event in Berlin, Germany. Among the new devices are a new PC series, Revo Base Mini PC and Chromebook R 13 convertible.
The Acer Chromebook R 13 will be available in North America in October with prices starting at $399; and in EMEA in October with prices starting at €399.
The new Chromebook R 13 features a 13.3-inch screen that can be used in a number of different modes including as a tablet thanks to its 360-degree hinges. It promises up to 12 hours of battery life and being a Chromebook it allows downloading apps from Google Play Store.
Its LED backlit display has full HD resolution and provides integrated 10-point touch capabilities that support Tap, Swipe and Pinch-to-Zoom gestures. It weighs only 1.49kg (3.28 pounds) and sports a thin profile of 326W x 228D x 15.5H mm (12.83W x 8.98D x 0.61H inches). The device is powered by a MediaTek M8173C CorePilot quad-core processor. Besides, it comes with 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac wireless technology, a USB Type-C port, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, microphone and Headphone jacks. The Acer Chromebook R 13 will be available in several configurations, either with 64GB, 32GB or 16GB eMMC storage and 4GB of dual channel LPDDR3 SDRAM.
Swift series
Meanwhile, Acer announce a new PC series – Swift. Under the new series, it revealed four devices – Swift 1, Swift 3, Swift 5 and Swift 7. The Acer Swift 7 will be available in North America in October with prices starting at $999; in EMEA in October with prices starting at €1,299; and in China in September with prices starting at ¥6,999. The Acer Swift 5 will be available in North America in November with prices starting at $749; in EMEA in November with prices starting at €749; and in China in October with prices starting at ¥5,999. The Acer Swift 3 will be available in North America in October with prices starting at $499; in EMEA in October with prices starting at €499; and in China in September with prices starting at ¥4,999.
The Acer Swift 1 will be available in North America in November with prices starting at $249; and in EMEA in October with prices starting at €349.
The Swift 7, which weighs just 1.1 kg, is said to be world’s first laptop to be 1 cm thin. It has aluminium body, 13.3 inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass, 7thGeneration Intel Core i5 processor, fast 256GB SSD, up to 8GB of memory and 2×2 802.11ac with MU-MIMO.
The Swift 5 has 14 inch full HD display. It weighs 1.36 kgs and has a height of 14.58 mm. Available in Pearl White with gold trimming or Obsidian Black with silver trimming, it comes with brushed metal surfaces and diamond cut accents.
The laptop has 7th Generation Intel Core processors, up to 8GB of memory and promises 13 hours of battery life. It has a backlit keyboard, a reversible USB 3.1 Type-C port and options for a touch display and fingerprint reader.
The Swift 3, which is 17.95 mm tall and weighs 1.5 kg, features a sturdy brushed-aluminum chassis. It promises up to 12 hours of battery life. The Swift 3 models pair a 14-inch HD or Full HD IPS anti-glare display with 6th or 7th Generation Intel Core processors, fast 512GB SSDs, up to 8GB memory and 2×2 MU-MIMO 802.11ac wireless technology for fast and reliable internet connectivity.
Additionally, it offers a USB 3.1 Type-C port, HD webcam, optional backlit keyboard, 72mm touchpad and built-in fingerprint scanner.
Acer Swift 1 is just 0.7 inches in height and weighs 1.6 kg. The laptop has a brushed-metal-like finish that minimizes fingerprints and scratches, while the diamond-cut edges around the power button and touchpad provide nice design touches. With up to 12 hours2 of battery life, they will last a student an entire school day, with a few extra hours to spare for late night studying or web-surfing. The Swift 1 features a 14-inch HD display, an Intel Pentium® or Celeron® processor, 4GB of memory and either 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of eMMC storage.
Revo Base
The Acer Revo Base will be available in EMEA in Q1 2017 with prices starting at €429. It measures 5.3cm in height with a 14 x 14cm footprint, features up to Intel Core™ i7 processors, and up to 8GB of DDR3L system memory. The Windows 10-powered Revo Base comes with integrated Intel HD graphics and high-definition sound.
The Revo Base can be connected with up to two displays simultaneously through HDMI and DisplayPort, while additional storage and other peripherals can be connected via its four USB 3.1 Gen. 1 ports. It also sports 802.11ac wireless technology, which offers up to 3x faster speeds than the previous standards, allowing users to enjoy smooth streaming and seamless browsing without a LAN cable. A VESA-compatible mount allows it to be placed out-of-sight in even more constrained spaces.
For content playback, the Revo Base is the ideal home entertainment hub for all the pictures, music and videos you already have. It provides plentiful storage with up to 2TB HDDs or optional 256GB SSDs, while an SD card slot lets the user add up to 256GB of external storage. For even more storage space, the unit can be easily upgraded with larger HDDs and additional RAM.
