After shaking the tablet market with its Rs 8,000 tablet earlier this month, Acer is now eyeing to launch even more low cost tablets at around Rs 10,00 but with high end specifications like quad core processor.
This has been revealed by Acer’s chief executive officer Linxian Lang. During a conversation with the China Times, Lang hinted that the company planning to launch quad core tablets with 8 and 10 inch display, priced between $202 (Rs 10,500) to $236 (Rs 12,500), sometime this year.
Acer which has traditional been known for value for money products in laptop category entered the Android tablet market with premium products. However it has been turning back to the value for money products with products like Iconia A200, A100 and recently launched Iconia B1. And if Acer’s plans materialise well, it could pose a serious threat to Indian tablet brands as well as brands like Google Nexus, Amazon Kindle etc.
Low cost tablet space is attracting a lot of attention with Asus, Samsung and now Acer eying the segment with many product launches planned very soon.
