Multinational PC and mobile phone manufacture, Acer is all set to launch an Android Jelly Bean operating system based tablet in India, called Iconia B, this month itself. The tablet would be launched in India by 20th of this month and will be priced at around Rs 8,000, a reseller for Acer told The Mobile Indian.
Acer India website lists the tablet as Iconia B and not the B1 as has been rumored. As per the listing, the tablet comes with a 7 inch screen, Android Jelly Bean operating system, and a 1.2 GHz processor. It will weigh only 320 grams. The tablet also sports a front facing camera for video chatting and has 32 GB of expandable storage slot.
According to rumours, the tablet comes with 512 MB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0. The tablet is said to have only WiFi connectivity and will not offer 3G SIM connectivity.
Going by the specification, the tablet will be no scorcher but it will offer decent performance at a very attractive price point. While there are tablets with similar or even better specification are available they are all from Indian brands. The Acer Iconia B will thus be the cheapest from an MNC brand and should come with very good quality level and refinement, something most low cost tablets lack.
