Acer Iconia A200 expected in India by March 2012

The low cost Acer Iconia A200 tablet has been launched in the UK, and is expected in India by March next year.

Acer has announced the availability of its newest Iconia A200 tablet in the UK. The 8 version of the tablet has been priced at 299 GBP which in terms of Indian rupees come around to Rs 25,000. But this is not the price at which the tablet will be available in India, where it would be launched in March next year. Acer India, which has confirmed the launch of the tablet in the UK, is yet to officially confirm its arrival to India.

The Iconia A200 features the older Google Honeycomb 3.2 operating system out of the box but will be upgraded later to Ice cream Sandwich OS which is set to be released in January next year itself. Since the tablet is expected to be launched in India by March next year, we can expect it to come preloaded with Android 4.0 operating system.

Like the Iconia 501, the Acer Iconia A200 tablet comes with an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core along with a 1 GB of DDR 2 RAM, front facing camera and 16 GB of internal storage space. The rear camera however has been removed, which might not be like by many users. The Iconia A200 comes in both red and black colours, which adds a little fashion kick to it.

Acer is also working on a newer Tegra 3 based device featuring the Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, a high display and better camera capabilities.
