Acer Iconia A100 making international debut next month

Acer is launching the 7 inch Android tab in the US in August, and is expected to arrive in India later this year.

The Acre Iconia A100, which was expected to make its debut in the United Sates in the month of July, will be launched in the August this year.

According to a post of Engadget, Acer has sent out mails to their retail partners pertaining to the delayed launch and officiating the delivery in the early weeks of August.

Following the launch in the US, Acer is also mulling to launch the device in other countries, including India, in September. If launched, the A100 will join the league of 7 inch screen based tablets including the recently launched BlackBerry Playbook.

The price for the A100, as expected, remains competitive at $300 (around Rs 15,000) but it is highly possible that the price of this tablet will go up to Rs 20,000 plus once this tablet lands in the Indian market.

The A100 features an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core 1GHz along with 512 of RAM. The 7 inch display, although smaller in size as compared to the 10 inch A500 tablet, will have a similar screen of 1024 x 600 pixels.

Acer had earlier announced that the A100 will also get a Honeycomb 3.2 upgrade in the month of September. The same will be made available to the users in the USA via upgrades but for users in India since the device will be shipping in September it is expected that the device might come preinstalled with the Honeycomb 3.2 update.
