After entering the Notebook industry with the Mi Notebook Air back in July 2016, Xiaomi is all set to introduce the next upgrade to the Notebook Air lineup. The company has started sending out invites for an event to be held on December 23 i.e. coming Friday in Beijing. However, there is no information about the the Notebook being the successor to the Mi Notebook Air or just a minor upgrade. As per the event invite image (Source: GizmoChina), the device will surely come with 4G network which might be the only change to earlier launched Mi Notebook Air. Further, we have no information about India launch. The original Mi Notebook Air never came to India and chances are it will be the same case with the new variant at least for the near future.
Just to recollect the specifications, Xiaomi launched the Mi Notebook Air in two display variants – a 13.3 inch variant and a 12.5-inch variant priced at CNY 4999 (Rs 50,433 approximately) and CNY 3499 (Rs 35,300 approximately) respectively. The 13.3-inch variant measures at 309.6 x210.9 x 14.8 mm dimension and weighs at 1.28 kg. Talking about the overall design, the Mi Notebook Air comes with full metal body with a Full HD display combined with EDGE to edge protection. The keyboard on the Mi Notebook Air is backlit and comes with 1.3mm stroke depth.
Digging inside, the notebook is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM coupled with 256GB PCIe SSD which is further expandable. For the graphics we get a Nvidia GeForce 940MX GPU with 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM. Xiaomi claims that the battery on the Mi Notebook Air can last for about 9.5 hours with regular usage and comes with quick charge technology through which one can easily get 50 percent of the juice in just 30 minutes.
On the other hand, the 12.5 inch variant comes with 12.9mm of thickness and weighs only 1.07 kgs. Further, it is powered by an Intel Core M3 Processor with 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB SATA SSD which is also further expandable. For the battery, the 12-inch variant is claimed to last for about 11.5 hours.
For connectivity, both the variants come with an HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm Headphone jack. Lastly, in terms of audio, Xiaomi has given AKG dual speakers with Dolby Digital surround sound technology.
