Now, the options in the menu will be available to customise. For individual chats, you can set custom notification ringtones, vibrate patterns, and also set these as ‘High priority notifications’ so they appear first in the notification panel. You can change the call ringtones and vibration pattern for the call from that contact as well. However, you cannot set call notifications for a group. Lastly, if your phone has an on the front, you can change the colour of that LED and assign a specific colour to a contact.

This was how you can set custom notifications for WhatsApp contacts. These type of notifications allow you to instantly recognise which of your contacts has sent you a message or who is calling you. For instance, on the basis of the ringtone, you can choose to ignore or accept the call without taking the phone out of your pocket.
