How to book Uber cabs without its app

As of now, Uber Dial only lets you pay through cash and not via cards or Paytm.

Uber entered India in 2013 and to a great extent it has transformed cab services especially in major cities. Though a consistent competition from similar service providers like Ola India often diluted some of the market share, Uber has still managed to book its own place on Indian roads.

However, its policy to book cabs only through its had disappointed many. But now Uber has rectified that. Yesterday, Uber India came up with another useful addition to the service where you can book a cab without even installing the Uber app. A lot of customers in India still haven’t installed the Uber app. Even before installed, a lot of times we couldn’t find the app because we deleted it for some reason. If you have experienced such situations, Uber Dial is here. The new functionality allows you to book an Uber through your itself. Here is the step-by-step guide.

Step 1: Open the browser on your mobile phone and go to dial.uber.com. It will ask you to enter your mobile number for registration.

Step 2: If you are already registered on Uber, you will be asked to Sign In or else you will have to Sign Up.

Step 3: After Signing In/Up you will get a prompt message asking you to give certain permission to enhance the booking process as well the ride experience.

Step 4: Next screen will show you how far is the nearest uber from your location and you get the option to Book a Ride.

Step 5: As soon as you Book a Ride, you will be connected to your nearest uber and you can then inform the destination location and get the estimated fare. This is because, in browser there is no permissions obtained so one has to directly inform it to the driver.

Uber Dial only lets you pay through cash and not via Cards or Paytm and for Trip receipts and Help section you will have to download the app later. Also, Uber has kept the interface pretty minimalistic and clean which enables a customer to book the cab instantly.

Uber India also announced that users in Nagpur, Kochi, Guwahati and Jodhpur can actually avail the service on web browser as well. Uber Dial will be extremely helpful for people who couldn’t download the app but still wants to book a cab. However, you still need an internet connection but Uber Dial is sort of a conventional way of booking a cab and can be a game changer in emerging markets like India. Let us know what you think about this new addition to world’s largest cab service provider company.
