With so many new features like 18:9 ratio display, better graphics, improved gaming capabilities being added to smartphones nowadays that one always wonders if the battery will last for the whole day in single recharge. Enter the Honor 7X ( Rs 12,999), a smartphone loaded with all most all the features that come in devices that cost a bomb and yet manages to offer fantastic battery backup.

The Honor 7X’s 3340 battery unit along with the Kirin 659 processor delivers better results than the Snapdragon 625 on the competition. Combined with its higher 3GB/32 and 4GB/64Gb pairings for Ram/Memory in the two versions, the Honor 7X more than ensures enough firepower for multitasking, gaming and more.

During the tests, Honor 7X was able to last for almost nine hours on heavy usage which also included around two hours of gaming. On moderate usage like data on, phone calls, photos, WhatsApp and social media usages getting 10 to 11 hours of backup is not an issue.

In contrast, most other smartphones in this price range don’t give more than 7 hours of backup on heavy usage and to add to the woes they have just 3000 mAh battery.

Application:

To achieve this impressive battery performance Honor has worked on three things: optimisation feature, software and hardware. The battery optimisation feature comes with power saving mode and ultra-power saving mode. It even has a feature in which one can lower the of the display for power saving.

Software:

On the software side, Honor 7X comes loaded with an optimise section in the battery setting, which diagnoses your device regularly and keeps you updated about power consumption pattern of different apps on your device. Not only that, but it also prompts you close power hungry apps and checks other settings on the device to get the best battery backup. Additionally, one can also set the smartphone to close all background apps when locked to reduce battery consumption in the background.

Hardware:

As far as the hardware front goes, Kirin 659 has eight cores, out of which four are oriented towards performance with the clock speed of 2.36GHz, while the remaining are tuned at 1.7GHz to guarantees a reliable performance without compromising the battery life. Apart from that, the processor has been fabricated using the modern 16nm FinFET process which is known to consume less power.
