Huawei, a renowned ICT player, has over the years delivered high-quality devices. Especially, in the field of mobile phones, Honor leads from the front. The recent addition to its long list of high end smartphones is the Honor 6 Plus which was recently launched in India for Rs 26,499.
The Honor 6 Plus has a combination of high end hardware with the latest software to offer the users a pleasing and top class smartphone experience. Indeed, it stands out from the crowd. Here we have compared the latest Honor 6 Plus with offerings of other companies such as the Moto X (2nd Gen) (Rs 29,000), Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro (Rs 29,000), Samsung Galaxy S5 (Rs 27,999), Google Nexus 5 (Rs 27,900), and the Sony Xperia Z1 (Rs 25,999). This will make it amply clear why the Honor 6 Plus is the best choice for the price.
Design
The Honor 6 Plus is a gorgeous smartphone with a glass body. Its pattern design in the back panel gives it a distinct look. Huawei has also carefully designed this for a perfect grip; the Honor 6 Plus’s metallic-finish side panels and just 7.5 mm thickness means it will in the palm perfectly. Moreover, the phone weighs just 165 grams. In fact, the Honor 6 Plus is lighter than the likes of the Sony Xperia Z1, and the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro. Also, the Honor 6 Plus is the slimmest phone amongst the phones mentioned earlier.
Display
The Honor 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch full HD IPS display. IPS technology means that you have wider viewing angles and better legibility than TFT displays. Due to the high resolution (1080 x 1920 pixels), it offers high Pixel density of 401 ppi, means that on the Honor 6 Plus you will be able to enjoy HD videos and games like never before. On the other hand, the Moto X has a smaller 5.2 inch display, while Galaxy S5 has 5.1 inch screen and Nexus 5 has a 4.95 inch display; though all of them have similar resolution.
Processor & Memory
The Honor 6 Plus has an octa-core processing unit, while all the other phones in this lineup have quad-core processing units. The Honor 6 Plus has 3 GB of RAM, unlike the Moto X, Samsung Galaxy S5, Nexus 5, and Sony Xperia Z1. As for storage, the Honor 6 has 32 GB of internal storage, and 128 of expandable storage, resulting in a capacity of 160 GB! Overall, the storage capacity cannot be matched by any of these. The closest competitor is the Galaxy S6 at 144 GB, which falls short by 16 GB, and the others are completely blown away, with the Moto X and Nexus 5 only having 16 GB of internal storage, the Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro has only 32 GB. These three phones lack Memory card slots, so the capacity cannot be expanded.
Software
The Honor 6 runs on Android KitKat, with Emotion UI 3.0. Honor’s own UI makes using the phone a breeze, as it simplifies everything and everything is well thought out. The UI is light and snappy, and is not a burden on the system resources. The Sony Xperia Z1 runs on Jelly Bean, while the Samsung Galaxy S5, and Lenovo Vibe Z2 run on Android KitKat too.
Battery
The Honor 6 Plus has a 3600 mAh battery, leaving behind the likes of the Moto X (2300 mAh), Galaxy S5 (2800 mAh), Nexus 5 (2300 mAh), and Sony Xperia Z1 (3000 mAh).
Camera
Honor 6 plus boasts of the world’s first rear camera with bionic parallel dual lens, with its two 8MP camera Sensors at the back. This is the latest in smartphone camera technology, as the phone brings dual eyes to capture the world in better detail, with picture quality that have a SLR feel. The Honor 6 Plus dual-camera system allows capturing pictures where the user can control the focus after the shot has been taken. The clever setup and its additional SLR-grade ISP technology and software algorithms allow taking 13MP shots, capturing twice the light as a single sensor will do, and helps achieving super-fast auto-focus at just 0.1s.
Honor 6 Plus has a super max Aperture F0.95 which cooperates with 70mm to infinity panoramic depth of field information, provides a virtual background effect as well as the SLR camera experience. After taking pictures, you can re-adjust the aperture size (F0.95 to F16) to get a new picture in different degree of virtual background effect, what`s more, a full clear EDoF (Extended Depth of Field Technology) photo.
The Honor 6 Plus also offers a SONY 8MP BSI sensor based front camera which is a delight for every selfie lover. The phone can be a perfect companion for parties and functions as it offers a special ‘Panoramic Selfie’ feature so that you do not miss out on any of your friends. The front camera is also equipped with a 10-level auto face enhancement which can be an effective way to center oneself in a picture.
The other phones in this lineup might have slightly higher megapixels, but they will not have the same kind of technology as the Honor 6 Plus, and so will not give you the kind of results the Honor 6 Plus can.
Connectivity
Honor has always been very sensitive to users’ expectations and wishes. Thus, it has armed the Honor 6 Plus with the latest 4G technology. With the advanced LTE (4G) technology, users can surf internet to up to 100 Mbps. In absence of 4G networks, you can always use its 3G features. Also, the Honor 6 Plus offers two SIM slots.
Besides, the Honor 6 Plus offers GPS for navigation and Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, NFC and DLNA for connectivity, just as the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, but even that lacks DLNA. The rest of the phones, such as the Galaxy S5, Moto X, Nexus 5, and Xperia Z1 are all single SIM devices, with more or less similar connectivity options.
