Honor 5C vs Samsung A5

Honor 5C comprehensively beats the Samsung A5 in all departments, despite being available for about Rs 6,000 less.

Huawei’s Honor just launched its latest value for money device, the Honor 5C in India at Rs 10,999. The phone has gain many accolades recently. Here we have compared it with Samsung A5 (2015) which is almost Rs 6,000 costly and is currently available for about Rs 16,500.

Generally, people think costlier devices offer better features but that is not always true. This comparison establishes just the same.

Design

The Samsung A5 has a metal body. It looks decent but has no iconic design elements that would differentiate it from the crowd. On the other hand, the Honor 5C has an aircraft grade aluminum alloy body. The aircraft-grade aluminum-alloy body molded using a high speed metal stamping process and finished with a brushed metal effect for a smooth, textured look. It has a scratch-resistant anodized coating for lasting protection against corrosion and wear and tear. The excuisite patter design on its side panels also further offers grip while giving it a unique look.

Moreover, the Honor 5C has a smooth ergonomic design. Most importantly, the Honor 5C has gone through rigorous drop test, impact test, port durability test, temperature/humidity test, salt spray test and even thermal shock tests.

The A5 comes in black, white and gold colours while Honor 5C is available in gold, grey and silver colours.

Display

The Samsung A5 has a 5 inch with just resolution. Its display is made of Super AMOLED technology and has 4 protection.

On the other hand, the Honor 5C has a bigger 5.2 inch display with much better full HD resolution and hence offers better pixel density.

Chipset

The Honor 5C comprehensively beats Samsung A5 in this segment as well. The Honor 5C has the latest Kirin 650 that comes with an octa core processor, Mali T880MP2 graphics processor and huge 2 RAM.

On the other hand, the Samsung A5 has a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and 2 GB RAM. So in side by side comparison the Honor 5C should beat the A5 easily.

Memory

Both the phones have 16 GB of internal storage but the Honor 5C has much higher 128 GB expandable storage slot against 64 GB micro card slot of Samsung A5.

Camera

The Honor 5C has 13 rear camera with F2.0 and 5 element lens that offers clarity in every shot. Its anti-reflective, oleophobic, and infrared-absorbing lens coating reduces glare, prevents fingerprints, and stops unwanted light from reaching the sensor. The camera supports HDR mode which combines a series of images with different exposures into a single photo to produce a perfectly-exposed subject and background with more accurate color reproduction. Honor 5C also has SmartImage 3.0 image processor with a variety of creative filters and shooting modes. For selfies, the Honor 5C offers a powerful 8 megapixel front camera.

On the other hand, the Samsung A5 has a 13 megapixel rear camera which can record full HD videos. The auto focus rear camera has the backing of a flash light and it has various features like Exposure compensation, Face detection, Geo tagging, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR), ISO control, Touch to focus, and White balance presets.

Operating System

The Honor 5C being a new age device comes with the latest OS – EMUI 4.1 which is based on the Marshmallow OS. The specially designed OS makes it quite easy to use the phone. Further EMUI 4.1 brings some unique features to the table like scrolling screenshots that lets users take screenshots longer than one screen.

On the other hand, the A5 (2015) has the older Android KitKat operating system.

Other Features

The Honor 5C offers a much bigger 3000 battery against 2300 mAh battery of Samsung A5. The Honor phone has SWS surround sound and smart power amplifiers for an immersive sound output. The Honor 5C has dual antennas for seamless connectivity.

Both the phones offer connectivity, WiFi, and GPS.
