Nokia is a Finnish multinational telecommunications, information technology, and consumer electronics company. It was founded in 1865 as a forestry company, but it eventually entered the telecommunications market in the late 20th century.
Nokia produces a wide range of mobile phones and smartphones, as well as accessories and software for those devices. Nokia has had a long history in the mobile phone industry, dating back to the early days of cellular technology. The company was one of the first to produce a portable cell phone and later developed one of the most popular platforms for smartphones, Symbian. Despite its successes in mobile phones, Nokia has struggled in recent years to compete with other manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple. In 2013, Nokia sold its handset business to Microsoft in an effort to focus on its core network business. The sale included all of Nokia’s devices and services businesses, as well as its patents and mapping services. The Nokia brand in 2016 through a licensing arrangement with HMD Global, launched smartphones based on Android.
