Acer is a Taiwanese multinational hardware and electronics corporation headquartered in Xizhi, New Taipei City, Taiwan. Acer’s product range includes laptop and desktop PCs, tablets, smartphones, monitors, projectors, and cloud solutions for home users, business, government and education. It was founded by Stan Shih, his wife Carolyn Yeh, and a group of five others as Multitech in 1976. In 1987 the company changed its name to Acer after the Latin word for “maple tree”. The company has more than 7,000 employees worldwide.
