Now you can pin your favourite chats on top on WhatsApp

The feature operates similar to what we have seen on Facebook and Twitter and is currently available only for beta users

With over 1.2 billion user base, Facebook-owned chat messenger – WhatsApp – has now introduced a new feature which lets you your favourite chat to the top. Spotted first by Police, the new feature is available on WhatsApp beta version 2.17.162 or 2.17.163 on Android so you need to be a WhatsApp beta tester to access the new feature. Also, do keep in mind a feature from WhatsApp beta takes a time to come to the stable version.

Once you are a beta tester, hop into your WhatsApp chat window > Press and hold any individual or group chat, you will now notice a new ‘pin’ option on the top which will, as the name suggests, stick the chat to top. Also, you can only Pin three chats at a given time after which the will display a toast reading ‘You can only pin up to 3 chats’. This nifty little new feature will come in handy if you happen to chat with a lot of people and have to scroll down every time you are in a conversation with a particular person. All the unpinned recent chats will appear after your pinned chats irrespective of when you receive a message.

Unpinning a chat requires you follow the same set of actions – Press and hold a chat > locate for the Pin symbol on the top and disable it.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp Messenger is also said to be testing a new ‘Change Number’ feature where a user can change his mobile number and the app will automatically notify all the contacts. Further, the Live Location sharing feature is touted to make its way to WhatsApp as well. Not only this, a recent leak from WABetainfo also claimed that the Chat Messenger may soon bring the ‘unsend’ option which will let users revoke sent messages in a brief window. This will be a great addition for someone who is always a victim of sending the wrong message to the wrong person. This will also prevent any problems for those who are prone to drunk to people.
