OnePlus 5 is turning out to be a very puzzling flagship device. We have already seen numerous rumours for the device, and now OnePlus CEO Pete Lau and Qualcomm have revealed that Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Chipset will power OnePlus 5.
The Snapdragon 835 is the first 10nm mobile Processor specially designed to support next generation entertainment experiences and connected cloud services that OnePlus phones are known to offer. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 means more feature integration, smaller size and lower power consumption with better battery life.
The CEO Pete Lau made a post on the OnePlus Forums confirming the presence of Snapdragon 835 on the OnePlus 5 smartphone. In a blog post on company’s official forum, he said, “We’re proud to announce the OnePlus 5 will feature the Snapdragon 835 processor.”
Separately, Qualcomm on its official Twitter handle also tweeted”OnePlus 5 is coming soon and we couldn’t be more excited that it’s powered by Snapdragon 835.” Alongside tweet, an image of Qualcomm’s logo with the OnePlus logo has also been shared by Qualcomm.
Talking about the partnership, Sanjay Mehta, Senior Vice President, Qualcomm and also a OnePlus star, said, “OnePlus creates every smartphone as if it’s creating a piece of art & not just making a mass-produced product. All of OnePlus smartphones have so far been powered by premium Snapdragon mobile platforms, ensuring that every generation of OnePlus handsets deliver a powerful performance ”.
Leaks so far:
- Display: 5.5-inch
- Resolution: 1440 x 2560 pixels
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
- Memory: 64 GB,128 GB
- RAM: 6 GB
- OS: Android 7.1.1 Nougat

As we had reported earlier, the OnePlus 5 will have a 5.5-inch screen, metal unibody design coupled with 6 GB RAM and the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It is being touted as a competitor to Samsung Galaxy S8 though the pricing would be less than that of its Samsung counterpart but higher than 3T as the components being used in this smartphone are more sophisticated. If the leaked images are to be believed, the device will have a dual rear camera setup and as OnePlus has partnered with DxO, thereby, it is expected that camera experience will be more subtle.
With a cutthroat competition already going on in the industry, OnePlus 5 is surely roaring to make it more interesting, with the leaked specs being this powerful, a true blue contest is on the cards.
