Huawei starts rolling out Oreo update For Honor 9 and Honor V9

Both the Honor 9 and Honor V9 smartphones were launched this year with EMUI 5.1 based on Android Nougat.

Soon after rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update to Huawei Mate 9, the company has now started also rolling out the Oreo update to Honor 9 and Honor V9 smartphones. The update is currently rolling out in China, but it is likely to release in more regions in the coming weeks.

Huawei has confirmed via the official EMUI Weibo page that the Honor 9 and Honor V9 users who were enrolled in the beta program will be getting the update first and later on it will be coming to other users. You need to sign up via Huawei’s Member Service application and those chosen will be getting an over-the-air update to EMUI 8.0 version B323. It is also to be noted that Honor 8 Pro handsets will also get the update as it is the global version of the Honor V9.

Both the Honor 9 and Honor V9 smartphones were launched this year with EMUI 5.1 based on Android Nougat. The company has ditched EMUI 6 and 7, instead, it unveiled EMUI 8.0. After the Oreo update, they will run on Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 operating system.

After the Oreo update, the smartphones will have picture-in-picture mode that lets users to two tasks simultaneously. So, for example, one can minimise a YouTube video while sending a text message or writing an email. Android Oreo has other features like including Background limits, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more.
